Privacy Principles

HL Financial Services LLC (“Hilliard Lyons”) is committed to treating and using personal financial information about you responsibly. We understand our clients’ desire for discretion in the handling of their financial matters, and we appreciate the trust they have placed in us to keep that information confidential. Our understanding of each individual client is the foundation for all of the services we provide and offer. The information you provide us helps us to better serve your financial needs. These Privacy Principles explain what client information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect personal information, and how and why in certain cases we may share such information among Hilliard Lyons affiliates, and in limited instances, with non-affiliates.

Our Consumer Information Privacy Principles apply to client information collected or used when Hilliard Lyons companies offer financial services to you. This disclosure is made on behalf of the following Hilliard Lyons companies: J.J.B. Hilliard, W.L. Lyons, LLC; Hilliard Lyons Capital Management, LLC; and Hilliard Lyons Trust Company, LLC.

How and Why We Collect
Information from You as a Client

Hilliard Lyons collects and maintains information about our clients so that we can evaluate their financial needs and provide a broad range of financial services to meet those needs. Most of the information we collect about you comes directly from you — from applications, agreements, or forms that you complete in order to receive our services. You may also provide us information when communicating with us in writing, electronically or by phone. We collect information from and about you in order to identify you as our client, to establish and manage client accounts, to complete your transactions, to understand client needs through market research, to inform you of products and services we believe meet client needs, and to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each client who opens an account.

For instance, we may collect the following client information about you:

  • Information such as name, address, e-mail address, phone numbers, Social Security number, tax identification number, assets, income, and date of birth which we receive on client account applications, agreements and other forms.
  • Information about your transactions and holdings with us, our affiliates or others, such as account balance, positions and history.

Protecting Your Privacy

We respect the premium you place on keeping your finances a private matter. That is why we do not sell information about our clients to anyone. We also do not disclose any nonpublic information about our clients or former clients to anyone, except as requested or authorized by our clients, as necessary to process a transaction or service an account, as requested by securities or other regulatory authorities, to others pursuant to subpoena, or as otherwise permitted by law.

We may disclose information about you or your account to affiliated and non-affiliated companies that perform administrative or marketing services on our behalf to help us service your account(s), with investment advisors or to other financial institutions with whom we are developing or offering investment products or services. When we enter into such a relationship, our contracts restrict the companies’ use of client information and require them to maintain the confidentiality of such information.

We restrict access to your nonpublic information to those employees who need to know that information to provide investment products or services to you. We also maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect nonpublic client information.

At Hilliard Lyons, we also strive to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and to respect the privacy of our clients. This annual disclosure of our Privacy Principles is provided in accordance with Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act and its implementing regulations. We will also comply with state privacy laws to the extent they apply.
We respect the privacy of our clients and are committed to protecting their information on our website with the same care we utilize for all Hilliard transactions.

The effective date of this privacy policy is April 1, 2008. This policy may be amended from time to time. Any changes to the policy will be reflected on the Web site and in the Annual Disclosure Notice sent to you.
