Hilliard Analyst Jeff Thomison Named to 2012 Best on the Street List
Hilliard Lyons is very pleased to announce that Equity Research Analyst Jeffrey S. Thomison has been named to The Wall Street Journal's annual survey of top-ranking equity analysts, also known as the Best on the Street rankings. Thomison won the No. 2 spot for his equity stock performance in the Leisure Goods and Services sector, in which only 34 U.S. analysts even qualified to be evaluated.
Each year The Journal measures analysts' skill in picking stocks by using recommendation-performance scores. These scores were calculated on the basis of the estimated total return, including price changes and dividends, of each eligible stock an analyst covered in an industry.
Thomison, a vice president and Chartered Financial Analyst, is a four-time Best on the Street honoree. The performance of his Leisure Goods and Services stock recommendations won him the honor in 2006. In 2001 he was recognized for his selections in the Recreational Products and Services category. And in 1997 he took second place in the country for his recommendations in the Entertainment industry.
“Jeff’s excellent performance in 2011 has allowed him to attain this prestigious industry designation for the fourth time while at Hilliard Lyons,” said Hilliard Lyons Research Director John Roberts. “This once again highlights the high quality group of analysts here at Hilliard Lyons.”
Hilliard Lyons, a full-service financial services firm, is proud to provide its clients and Financial Consultants with original analysis from an in-house research department. Six of Hilliard Lyons’ current nine equity analysts have held the Best on the Street title a combined total of 17 times since The Wall Street Journal began the competition in the mid 1990s.
Thomison’s analysis and opinions have been featured in numerous media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and MarketWatch. He has also appeared on CNBC. Prior to joining Hilliard Lyons in 1990, Thomison was an equity analyst and portfolio manager with Fifth Third Bancorp. Thomison also follows Consumer Staples for Hilliard Lyons and has previously followed the Retail industry. Thomison holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Kentucky.
