Hilliard Lyons Research Analysts Lykins and Burks Win High Honors

May 18, 2009 – Hilliard Lyons Research Analyst Jim Lykins has been recognized as a top Equity Analyst by the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and Forbes. Lykins received the commendations for his outstanding performance in the Utilities area.

Lykins has been named to the Wall Street Journal’s current “Best on the Street” class. “Best on the Street” identifies the top five analysts in each of 44 industries, based on stock-picking skill. Lykins was chosen as the No. 2 Analyst among the 54 Utilities sector Analysts whose performance the Journal scrutinized.  In total, more than 7,000 analysts at more than 470 firms were surveyed, to come up with 1,925 analysts at 163 firms who qualified for inclusion in the project. Hilliard Lyons Research Analysts have made the “Best on the Street” rankings 14 times.

In the 2009 Financial Times | StarMine Analyst Awards, Lykins won the following U.S. awards: No. 9 Stock Picker Overall; No. 1 Stock Picker in the Gas Utilities industry; No. 1 Earnings Estimator in the Gas Utilities industry; No. 1 Stock Picker in the Water Utilities industry; and No. 2 Earnings Estimator in the Water Utilities industry.

Additionally, Hilliard Lyons Research Analyst David B. Burks was named No. 2 Stock Picker in the Electric Utilities industry.

Forbes magazine’s "Best Brokerage Analysts" report named Lykins the No. 1 Analyst in the Gas Distribution subsector of Utilities. According to Forbes, the “blue-chip” Analysts in its report “stand out from their peers and have done so for the past three years.”
